MERCED COUNTY RADIO CONTROL CLUB
ABOUT US
The premier radio control club in Merced County, CA
Founded over 45 years ago, our airfield has been a gathering place for airplane enthusiasts. Our community includes everyday people, from every walk of life. We just share the common bond of enjoying flight.
Our founder:
USAF Colonel Chuck Winter
Chuck was a U.S. Air Force Jet pilot who flew T-33s, F-86Ds, F-102, F-106 and many propeller aircraft and said the smell of jet fuel brings back many memories.
Our club has about 100 members, ranging in ages from below 10 to over 90 years old. We are a family oriented facility, that encourages our younger pilots to learn new skills, while taking-in the wisdom and knowledge from our older members.
Our facility has a paved 600 ft. runway, which provides ample room for pilots to land a wide variety of RC aircraft. Having a long runway is also beneficial for new pilots, giving them plenty of room for takeoff and landing.
The flying field has a BBQ, battery charging station, shaded pits for plane prep and viewing, as well as aircraft starting stands.
